She looks through her window, taunted by what it shows her.
She sees a wonderful land, filled with an overwhelming feeling of acceptance.
She loves this untouchable world, and wishes she could stay here forever.

But she feels a shallow pit in her heart, a dark place that has not been filled.
The land in front of her is a fantasy, a mere mockery of what true happiness could be.
It feels as though happiness is not even possible now, perhaps it would stay like this forever.

But through the window, she can see a figure in the distance. Another window.
Someone stares through their end of the world, looking toward the girl.
Their windows seem to move closer as time passes, making the figure in the window more clear.

He looks through his window, unsure of what to expect.
He wants more than what he has, and knows not how to obtain it.
He sees nothing but mystery in his future, his sight being clouded by endless distractions.

He feels the same empty place inside of him as the girl, and doesn't know how to fill it.
He can't for the life of him find the right one, the one thing that can make him happy.
But he sees her, the girl in the next window, staring back at him with desperate eyes.

She shouts, and he hears her. They yell back and forth to each other, having wonderful conversations every day.
They have an unbreakable bond, one that can't even be broken by the untouchable world sitting in between them.
They reach toward one another, hoping that somehow they can be closer.

The girl feels the empty place inside of her filing up, but something troubles her.
Does he feel the same, this she could never know.
They are separated by two windows and a fantasy, clouded by better judgement.

She wishes she could tell him, but she fears rejection.
She doesn't want to lose the bond that they share, but wished for nothing more than to be with him.
So she is quiet, only speaking when spoken to.

They can see each other clearly now, their windows only a few feet apart.
But she has never felt so far away from him.
The world between them doesn't bring her joy, but rather makes the empty feeling inside of her grow.

Maybe one day, the real world and the fantasy can become one.
Maybe they would hold each other in an endless embrace.
Maybe they will never speak again.
Something different
